
V is the stage name for Kim Teahyung. He was born in Daegu, South Korea. Growing up in a family of farmers, he never dreamed of becoming an idol, instead his dream was to be just like his family, a farmer. His parents were extremely busy maintaining a large farm, so they sent him to his grandmother. Consequently, she became the closest family member with him. V once said that his grandmother’s dream was to see him winning a prize on TV. Debuting in a small company, it was hard for them to be on TV. In 2015, two years after their debut, they won their first prize by the song “I Need U.” However, the timing didn’t work out will. The day was the 49th day after his grandmother’s death.

Back to his childhood story, his determination of becoming a farmer never sways until his encounter with saxophone. Everything changed after that. He opened a door toward the world of music. He later entered dancing class because he held that a music lover must know how to dance.

One day after school, a friend of his asked him to go to an audition with him. Then, they went to the audition BigHit Entertainment held in Deagu. After first, V just stood outside while waiting for his friend. However, the judges noticed elaborate looking, and asked him to participate in to audition. In the beginning, he refused to because becoming an idol wasn’t his dream; yet, after the judges’ non-stop persuasion, he decided to give it a try.
He was the only person that passed the audition in Daegu. After three years of training, he debut as the second youngest member and the vocalist in BTS.
